NETWORKING

Ghost nets and ghost ropes drift through rivers, lakes, and oceans – invisible traps that threaten wildlife and destroy habitats. All around the world, people collect these nets and ropes along shores and riverbanks. They send small fragments of them for my new art project: NETWORKING.

The title NETWORKING refers, on the one hand, to the submitted pieces of net and rope as symbols of an environmental crisis. On the other hand, it represents the growing network behind the project: individuals across the globe connected by their commitment to clean waters and the protection of nature.

The website grows with every new contribution. Behind each piece of net or rope are personal stories and people whose actions together form a web of responsibility and dedication. Geisternetze und Geisterseile treiben in Flüssen, Seen und Meeren – unsichtbare Fallen, die Tiere bedrohen und Lebensräume zerstören. Menschen aus aller Welt sammeln diese Netze und Seile an Stränden und Ufern. Davon schicken sie kleine Stücke für mein neues Kunstprojekt NETWORKING.

Der Titel NETWORKING bezieht sich dabei zum einen auf die eingesendeten Netz- und Seilfragmente als Zeichen der Umweltproblematik. Zum anderen steht er für das wachsende Netzwerk hinter dem Projekt: Individuen auf der ganzen Welt, die verbunden sind durch ihren Einsatz für saubere Gewässer und den Schutz der Natur.

Die Webseite wächst mit jeder Einsendung. Hinter jedem Stück Seil und Netz stehen Menschen und Geschichten, die zusammen ein Netz aus Verantwortung und Engagement bilden.
