Bob the Labradoodle loves to go for walks. All dogs do. But Bob is a special dog, he is a Plogdog. What is a Plogdog you may ask?! Plogging is running and picking up litter on your way. Humans do that. But Bob...   mehr

Somewhere in 2019 I started plogging following the National clean up day. I was provided with gloves and bags and picked up my plogstick from the city council public works. It is on borrow, to be returned when I stop cleaning. With the bags available and the challenge by the national action to adopt a street for regular cleaning I started plogging on a weekly basis. This soon extended to my longer runs, bike rides and outings with the dog and the family.

Some nice points were scored on local events :
- On the run we organise monthly with our running team I introduced my washing tubs to easily gather the now paper cups (that replaced the plastic ones) from the water station. Particularly on windy days the chances of cups going astray has strongly declined.
- On an event in Utrecht finding the shortest route and running it the quickest I took my plogstick. I was slightly disoriented but gathered two full bags. The organisation was well impressed and rewarded me.
- With my running team we took part in the yearly plogging event, I am front left with the family hairline. With Eddy on the right we spent almost an hour cleaning a dry ditch just a bit further left from where the photo was taken.

My running has come to a grinding halt two years ago due to injury from running, cycling, age etc ... I now go out daily with our dog to walk and pick up something daily.
In January I join in with Paul Waye locally, it’s the only I actually track what I pick up.
In 2022 I picked up 700 pieces in two months (feb / mar) of which 177 cans.
In ’23 I concentrated on cans and found a local ‘litter-highway’ only 400 meters from my doorstep. I came out to 516 cans without too much effort, okay I didn’t take the dog each time though.

Cans are easy to spot and collect just before the returns for cans will introduced from April 1st this year. Yellow plastic items are rare, so I am happy to have found something the day after I noticed the post.

Hi, my name is Paul Waye and I am the self titled... "hardest working plogger in the world". I seem to spend all my time living up to that label. Haha. It all started back in Sept 2011 when I made my first...   mehr
